孟庆旸MENG
QINGYANG

Meng Qingyang is the dancer most closely identified with The Green, the central embodied image in the poetic dance production The Journey. A principal performer with China Oriental Performing Arts Group, she turns the mineral colours of azurite and malachite into a physical presence shaped by breath, line and sustained stillness. Her interpretation does not describe a conventional character. It gives weight, tension and duration to a landscape that has remained still for nine centuries. Meng originated the role at the production’s 2021 premiere and has continued to refine it through more than six hundred performances in China and abroad. Her training is rooted in Chinese classical dance, where the coordination of breath, focus and movement gives structure to each gesture. She holds the designation of a First-Class Performer, the highest professional grade in China’s national arts system. Beyond The Journey, she contributes to China Oriental’s stage repertory, touring programmes and cultural exchange projects. She continues to work as a leading performer with the company while taking part in creative development, public conversations and training activities that introduce younger dancers and international audiences to the discipline behind the work. Her profile is maintained for international presentation, touring and professional collaboration worldwide.
